TREO
600 VOICE RECORDING with AUDACITY SOFTWARE
Palm
has released firmware that allows voice recording
on the Treo 600 with the Audacity Voice Recorder
software (Professional and Personal editions). The
firmware can be downloaded from the Palm web site
using the following link. http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/.
This software has now been released for all carriers.
Treo 680, Treo 650 and Treo 700P users do not require
this update.
To
check to see if your Treo 600 has been updated do
the following. Press
,
Press
,
from the Options Menu, select Phone Info. On the
Phone Info screen read the numbers after "Software."
Look at the number after the "Treo 600-."
If your software version number is lower than 1.12
(1.11 for Verizon), you need the software update.
The Treo 650, Treo 680, and Treo 700p do not require
a firmware upgrade.
Once
the upgrade is completed, come back to the Audacity
web site at www.audacityaudio.com,
select products, and then select the product of
your choice. We recommend the Audacity DVR Professional
Edition / LAM package. It currently has a special
price of $ 99.99 for the package. The Professional
Version supports security, wireless, automatic Syncing
/ file transport, and many other features. If the
Professional Version is more than you can afford,
the Audacity Personal Version at $ 29.99 is a great
value.
The
Treo 600 is slower than other Palm devices with
respect to the speed of writing to an SD card. Using
a card that is 'too slow' will result in 'skipping'
and dropouts. Treo 600 users should use a card rated
at 32X or better, or use the new Kingston Elite
Pro 80X as these seem to alleviate the problem.
