This
is a very popular Enterprise Solution. See the paper under
Enterprise Solutions entitled "Incorporating
Schedules and Demographics into the Dictation Process".
That paper specifically addresses Palm solutions, but this
solution is very similar to the first method explained. The
doctor opens the application, pulls up the patient schedule,
selects an entry; and begins to dictate. The patient name
including demographics are preloaded and are transported along
with the completed WAV file. The process is easy for the doctor
and transcriber. The doctor doesn't even need to dictate the
patient name and number. It is already part of the file. More
important, the data is accurate. The demographic information
can be used for file routing, pulling up templates, and other
automated processing functions.
The
Audacity for Pocket PC Custom Interface can be very simple,
loading on a daily schedule or can be much more complex. Complex
versions typically involve frequent wireless updates of an
always changing patient schedule and keeping track of the
doctor's progress toward completing his documentation.
